Tim Berneiser has started his work as PhD student funded through TARGET-MPN. He has a great background in wet and dry lab approaches, including internships in single cell genomics at the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (MDC-BIMSB). Tim will interrogate the genetics and transcriptomics of MPN in a longitudinal fashion and collaborate closely with Prof. Lars Bullinger’s group.

Yeqin Sha has started his work as self-funded PhD student. He has a strong background in bioinformatics and hematology, which will add valuable expertise to the group.

Priyanka Venkatesh has started her work funded by the John Hansen Research grant from DKMS to explore the phenotypes of measurable residual disease (MRD) after allogeneic stem cell transplantation. With her background in dry and wet lab, she is bringing in all the skills needed for this challenging project.

A satisfying conclusion to a side-story that became a major project of Livius’ postdoc with Cathy Wu.

Seunghoon Kim, PhD has started his work as shared postdoctoral research fellow between Dr. med. Jana Ihlow and Prof. Sandrine Sander. We are happy to provide the scientific environment in which he will develop his single cell genomics research projects.

Dr. Mischa Selig has started his work as postdoctoral research fellow with us - we are very thrilled to have him and wish him all the best of luck for his projects.

Exciting times - the first publication from the Penter lab has been released in which we review current studies that employ single cell genomics for performing immune monitoring in blood malignancies.

Maylis TOUMI from Agroparistech in France is joining us for her masters studies in Health Engineering. Maylis will work on distinguishing donor- from recipient-derived single cells. Welcome Maylis!

We have two PhD positions available for projects that will focus on interactions between leukemia and immune cells. In the first project, we will utilize natural genetic barcodes to track leukemia evolution before and after immunotherapeutic bottlenecks such as allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. In the second project, we will long-read sequencing to better understand alternative splicing in AML and to use this approach for the identification of novel immunotherapeutic targets. We are super excited about the news that Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung has decided to fund our proposal to use long-read single cell sequencing technologies to identify novel immunotherapeutic targets in AML/MDS.
